NJYS Young Olympians Program for 2009 & 2010 birth years
by posted 10/10/2019

The NJ Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) has opened registration for its Young Olympians Program (birth years 2009-2010), which will get underway in October. Sessions are hosted regionally (south, shore/central and north) to facilitate participation throughout the state and establish consistency in training session and related player evaluations.

Registration & Program Details: Click Here

The NJYS Young Olympians Program, designed specifically for players born in 2009 and 2010, is an introductory stage for those who aspire to play at a high level and provides a pathway to participate in New Jersey ODP. Player abilities will be assessed by the NJYS staff, and the sessions will be segmented so that players are training with others of similar ability. Overall, the program will focus on improving a player's technical ability and tactical awareness while exposing both players and parents to a US Youth Soccer and New Jersey ODP environment.

The Young Olympians Program includes training sessions, camp and a festival featuring small-sided games. Pre-registration is required. To ensure a proper training environment, registration will be limited to 50 players on a first come, first served basis. If demand exceeds capacity, NJYS will create a waiting list and seek solutions for those individuals desiring to participate.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What area should I sign up for?

Please reference the below chart regarding recommended training locations by counties.

  • North (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic and Sussex)
  • Shore/Central (Monmouth and Ocean, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Union and Warren)
  • South (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem)

*Players may select their preferred training locations. Please see the ODP page of our website (www.njyouthsoccer.com) for schedules.

Can I train at a different location than where I signed up for?

In order to maintain sufficient training numbers and coaches per location, changing locations will not be permitted.

Why is Young Olympians limited to 50 per location?

In order to ensure a proper training session with ample space, player to coach ratio as well as maximize touches on the ball per player, 50 is the maximum number of players to ensure this.

What is the purpose of the Young Olympians Program?

The purpose of the program is to provide quality soccer training while introducing the players to the Olympic Development Program (ODP) process. We are not a club team but rather a training program with the purpose of increasing the player's talent beginning at a young age.

What if I cannot attend all sessions?

While the training sessions are not mandatory, we encourage you to attend as many as you are able to. The fee will not be prorated for missing a training session.

CU MLS Cup Contest
by posted 10/02/2019

We have created a MLS Cup Bracket for our members to join and select the MLS Cup playoff winners. One of the best ways to improve as a player is to watch more games online/TV and in person. Red Bull Arena is just 30 minutes away and offers a great soccer experience. There is no better or easier way to inspire a youth player than to follow the game and fall in love with it. Earlier this season we had 100 of our members at a game on the field watching warmups. This past Sunday our 11U Hawkeyes team served as ballboys at the Red Bulls game.

We are offering the first place winner an official Red Bulls jersey signed by the entire 2019 Red Bulls team. The second and third place winners will receive a Red Bulls polo shirt (size Adult Large). When you join please make it clear who you are so we can track you down. While anyone with the link below can join, only a family registered in one of our Fall 2019 programs (Recreation, 7U/8U TDP, Travel or TOPSoccer) is eligible to win.

11U Hawkeyes at Red Bull Arena
by posted 10/02/2019

11U Hawkeyes

The 11U Hawkeyes has a great day out at Red Bull Arena on Sunday September 29th for the Red Bulls-DC United game. The players served as ballboys and got to wear the famous pink "Ball Kid" shirts. Match recap below.

Bill Hamid made a spectacular save from Cristian Casseres Jr.Frederic Brillant headed Tom Barlow's goal-bound effort off the line and D.C. United maintained their one-point lead over the New York Red Bulls in the race to host a home postseason match following a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening at Red Bull Arena.

Despite failing to register a shot on target, D.C. ran their unbeaten run and shutout streak to four matches, the latter marking a season high after Hamid kept three consecutive clean sheets to begin the 2019 season.

The result, combined with Toronto's 2-2 draw in Chicago, means D.C. maintains the fourth spot in East standings entering Decision Day Presented By AT&T next weekend, and need only to defeat last-place Cincinnati to guarantee a home game in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Red Bulls ran their own clean sheet stretch to a season-high three matches, and visit now-eliminated Montreal to close the season. They could still secure a home match with a good result there, should D.C. drop points against Cincy.
